The story and voice acting were solid but the game play and mechanics really killed the game. I was definitely one of the people that expected more from this game. I also hope a sequel comes out. If they can make the gameplay better and polish the graphics, this has the potential to be a franchise game.
I know I'll get quite a few disagrees on this comment, but let me put it this way. Gameplay - 4/10 --- story 9/10 --- overall - 6.5/10 = worth trying again IMO.
People are making a huge deal out of the "90 minute cutscene" thing. To wrap up the MGS loose ends, there are more than 90 minutes of total cutscenes. I mean, come on, the MGS had that much video, so you can definitely expect more than that in MGS4. As far a single scene of 90 minutes or more, at least some cutscenes are said to have interactive moments where you hit a button to get a MGS "history lesson" to bring new MGS players up to speed with the complicated MGS univer...
do you really think Jack will understand half of the big words you used?
On subject, people are griping back and forth about the whole HD, is it 720p or 1080p thing, but the bottom line is I would rather have better content, story and action than the higher resolution. Sacrifice high res for better gameplay? Sure, go for it! Beauty is only skin deep. Gameplay will make a game legendary.
They actually show a guy sneaking up on a Rhino. Looks pretty awesome to me!

I got a good laugh that some one disagreed with your joking question. How do you disagree with a joke/question?
I think it is great that they did something a little outside the norm. It also looks to be a heck of a show piece for PS3 power (which I think was the intention the whole time). Probably will have unlockable areas with new wildlife as you get better pictures and advance in the wildlife photography field. I will definitely keep my eyes out for this one. I see a lot of mixed reviews coming for this one though. It's going to be one of those games that is your cup of tea or its not.
Why? Just because you don't KILL anything?
Looks rather refreshing to me. And those graphics!
to come in here and make some half baked effort of trying to slam the PS3. MGS4 gets a 9 and you try to rub people's noses in it? Now THAT, my friend is funny!
Hype has been built up to unprecedented proportions and no product can deliver that big. Their reasoning for not giving it a 10 are a little strange / suspect, but I can't really say one way or the other as none of us have played it yet. Besides, does anybody really care at this point anyway? I mean, is anyone not going to pick up this game even if "reviewer A" said it was a 5/10? You know you are going to buy it anyway, so do so and enjoy. Make your own assessment afterward.
Who said 360 is dead? When did anyone make this comment, other than blind Sony fanboys who think it actually matters who "wins" the console war?
Wow, I want to read their review of any of the Final Fantasy games. They must really suck by those standards!
who would be influenced by a review of this game anyway? If some one said this MGS4 was a 5 out of 10, would any one really say, "gee, maybe I WON'T get this then." HA! Top-rated, best selling, GOTY all the way!
And now I will be able to pick it up for my PS3! Awesome! I'm not a big shooter fan (I like more story than most shooters offer), but this one appears to be something special. Really looking forward to it.
is why people give support to one reviewer, then completely discredit others. If you do a little research on the game in question (do YOU like the look, feel, content of the game) then look at as many reviews as you can to get an overall consensus of what others think, then make up your own mind.
Example: I always liked King's Field (kind of a poor man's Oblivion), but it always got horrible or, at best, mid-range scores. Yet, when a new one came out, I would snap it up because...
I read (in EGM or OPSM) the only way to get the "Finishing moves" is to remove enough armor to make your opponent vulnerable to to them. When your opponent blocks too much, their armor breaks down, then you pull out the finisher.
"Managing" to port over to the PS3 is unacceptable at this point. Great games have pushed the current (notice "current") boundaries of the PS3 (Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, MGS4), so why can't developers do the same with multi-platform games? I'll tell you why. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. If the PS3 version (or Xbox360) came out and looked and played substantially better, I don't think MS (or Sony) would be too happy about it. Game developers don't want to m...
Kind of like the version of "Devil Went Down to Georgia" was remade to be a more heavy metal style. This should be pretty cool.
The real movie plot can't be much better. How in the world do you make a movie about a pizza eating dots and being chased by ghosts? Who ever thought buying the rights to make a Pac-Man movie was a good idea should immediately be fired.
Watch, now that I said that, Pixar will grab up the reigns and it will make millions!
I don't think Bill Gates has been that tremendously hands-on at MS for quite some time. People give way too much credit and power to the CEOs and owners of these huge companies. Most times these guys push paper and deal with finances, more concerned with the bank accounts, not being very involved with daily decisions that keep the company afloat.
It is really starting to get me curious. It looked like "MGS: African Safari" or something! Should be great fun and the graphics are amazing.
Now if some one would just release some info on Heavy Rain (the other big mystery title out there!
